Grade 5 In Grade 5, we are studying from the "Discovering French Bleu" Textbook. Throughout the year, we will be studying units 4, 5 and 6. The students will continue to build on their understanding of the French language and develop a better awareness of French grammatical structures. What are we studying now? By the end of May, students will be able to describe their city, its public buildings and places of interest, ask and give directions, talk about various places they go during the week and on weekends, to describe their house, and to discuss future plans. So far, students have be introduced to: - describing daily activities - expressing an opinion - asking questions about what others can or want to do and - accepting or declining an invitation - asking and answering yes and no questions - constructing sentences in the negative form - the conjugation of -er verbs - verb + infinitive constructions - open-ended questions with est-ce que or with inversion - the verb faire - talking about themselves, describing friends and other people, and describing their room - saying what they have and don’t have (i.e. list furniture and items in their bedroom) - conjugating the verb avoir - using the definite and indefinite articles. - properly placing adjectives (ante nominal vs. post nominal) - making adjectival agreements.
